FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is ASH?

ASH stands for Aggie Sisters in Healthcare and is a women’s organization designed to foster a supportive environment for women pursuing a career in healthcare as they navigate undergrad.

What are the different subcommittees in ASH and why do you have them?

Ash consists of seven different subcommittees - medical, dental, nursing, PA, therapy, pharmacy, and vet. Each subcommittee has its own subco chair for the girls to go to with any questions or concerns they may have as well as to help guide them towards their future careers. We find that having smaller groups focused on specific careers is very helpful as everyone in that subco is working towards the same goals and are in the same classes.

What are the requirements to apply and who can join?

ASH is open to both undergraduate and graduate female students of Texas A&M University, including Blinn TEAM students. ASH also requires that applicants be going into the healthcare field of one of the 7 subcommittees we offer.

Does it cost to join?

ASH does collect member dues each semester. These dues allow us to pay for all the fun events, t-shirts, and other fun things that you get from being a member. Member dues will be $200 your first semester and $170 for existing members.

When do you meet?

We have biweekly meetings on Thursdays at 7:00 pm. We bring in speakers and have fun activities.

What is your philanthropy?

Our philanthropy is REACH, a Texas A&M non-profit organization that is dedicated to serving students and staff in the Bryan-College Station area by providing access to affordable homes, supportive services, and community building. We are very excited to work with and support them this coming year.

What does ASH offer to its members?

ASH offers many things to its members. We offer service and volunteering opportunities, increased exposure to their desired health field, access to information and advising, mixers, tailgates, and other events involving other on-campus organizations, as well as the invaluable sisterhood experience of a group of women supporting and empowering one another.

How many new members are you taking?

ASH does not have a set number of girls we are looking to recruit. Each applicant is unique and we look at every one individually to see if we think they will be a good fit for ASH as well as if ASH will be a good fit for them. ASH is a competitive organization but we do consider each and every application and you are strongly encouraged to apply!
